Cincinnati Basketball: Bearcats announce intriguing non-conference schedule

The Bearcats women’s basketball team announced its non-conference schedule for the upcoming season that will start on November 7 at Louisville and includes matchups against Ohio, Toledo, Xavier and a trip to the Daytona Beach Invitational.

Prior to the season opener on the road, Cincinnati will play an exhibition game at Wittenberg University in Springfield. The Bearcats home opener is scheduled to take place on Thursday, November 10 against Tennessee Tech at Fifth Third Arena.

Cincinnati will stay in town for matchups versus Radford and Toledo before hitting the road to take on Lindenwood. The Bearcats most recently met Toledo in 2012 and are 2-2 against the in-state opponent all-time including a 60-59 win in 2008.

The Daytona Beach Invitational will start on Friday, November 26 as Cincinnati is set to play UT Arlington and Charlotte the weekend after Thanksgiving. Fresno State, Penn State, Toledo and others will participate in the Florida-based tournament.

After competing in Daytona, the Bearcats will have a couple days off before facing North Carolina A&T in Greensboro on Thursday, December 1. The next four games will be in Ohio against Illinois-Chicago, Xavier, Ohio and Southern Indiana.

Illinois-Chicago will come to Clifton in early December and the Bearcats will head to Xavier for the Crosstown Shootout on Friday, December 9. Michelle Clark-Heard’s team will have a chance to extend its 3-game win streak over the rival Musketeers.

Xavier has the advantage all-time with an 11-6 record against Cincinnati but the Bearcats have found a way to win three in a row including an 85-78 road win in 2020 and an 82-73 triumph last season as Caitlyn Wilson scored a team-high 15 points.

The final non-conference game will take place on Wednesday, December 21 at Northern Kentucky in Highland Heights. Check back soon for more updates as the American Athletic Conference is expected to announce the conference schedule soon.
