The Bearcats are hoping to bounce back from a season-opening loss against Arkansas and the oddsmakers are certainly expecting a blowout as Kennesaw State comes to town. Cincinnati is currently favored by 28 points prior to kick off against the FCS opponent.

Despite falling to the Razorbacks, Luke Fickell’s team showed plenty of fight and proved they can compete with one of the SEC’s best teams in a hostile environment. The Bearcats should be able to get up early and win comfortably this weekend.

According to WynnBET, the Bearcats are 28-point favorites over Kennesaw State with kick off four days away at Nippert Stadium. The over/under total is currently set at 48.5 points which means the projected score is approximately 38-10.

A couple days before Cincinnati started the regular season, Kennesaw State lost to Samford 27-17 on the road. The Owls went up early and led 17-14 at the end of the third quarter before going scoreless and giving up 13 points in the fourth quarter.

Cincinnati vs Kennesaw State odds:

  • Spread: Cincinnati -28
  • Over/Under Total: 48.5
  • Bearcats Moneyline: -4000
  • Owls Moneyline: +1400

Following a slow start in the first half at Arkansas, the Bearcats found a groove offensively and nearly came back before falling 31-24. Ben Bryant, Charles McClelland and company should be able to keep that momentum going against the Owls this week.

Kennesaw State runs a triple-option offense with junior quarterback Xavier Shepherd running the show. Theoretically, that could create issues for the Bearcats but I don’t see that happening with the level of experience and talent on the defensive front.

I’m expecting Cincinnati will cover the 28-point spread and score at least 40 points in the first home game of the season. I would lean towards taking the over but that could go either way as the Bearcats are projected to pick up a much-needed win.
