Wes Miller picked up a commitment from 4-star point guard Jizzle James tonight as the Bearcats continue to build on the 2023 recruiting class. James is a talented prospect that chose Cincinnati over Georgia, LSU and several other programs.

Prior to his senior year at Olympia High School, James cut his list of potential destinations to three before landing on the Bearcats. The Orlando product visited Cincinnati in early September as the football team took on Kennesaw State in the home opener.

According to 247 Sports, James is the 5th highest rated recruit from Florida and the 9th ranked point guard in the country. His impressive athleticism, high motor and mid-range scoring ability makes him a huge addition for the Bearcats moving forward.

He is the son of former Indianapolis Colts running back Edgerrin James. During his NFL career, James earned four Pro Bowl selections and led the league in rushing yards twice. His son certainly possesses the same dynamic speed and shiftiness as his father.

James decided to join fellow 4-star guard Rayvon Griffith as part of the 2023 recruiting class and it appears Cincinnati is the current frontrunner for 5-star guard Isaiah Collier. The top ranked recruit in the nation is expected to commit on November 16.

The Bearcats are also in the mix for 4-star center Arrinten Page, who plays with Collier at Wheeler High School, and included Cincinnati in his final four schools. There’s still plenty of work to do but the Bearcats seem to be in a great spot to land a couple more elite prospects including Collier and Page.

Miller knows the program needs to reach a new level in recruiting if it’s going to compete in the Big 12 on a consistent basis and the 2023 class will be a major impact of that transition. James recently explained why he decided to chose the Bearcats per On3.

"“I chose Cincinnati because of the culture and the style of play. They fit the style I’ve been in since high school and they preach the same principles I’ve been taught all my life. I want to tell the fans at Cincy that I’m coming to win!”"
