Just a day after decommitting from Boston College, 3-star defensive end Brian Simms III committed to Cincinnati. The Baltimore native was on campus last weekend as the Bearcats took down South Florida.

Simms is a relatively under the radar prospect but has plenty of potential as an edge rusher. The 6’4, 245-pound defensive end has impressive agility and speed that should translate to the next level as he continues to develop throughout his career.

During the official visit, Simms got a chance to meet head coach Luke Fickell and first-year defensive line coach Walter Stewart. A couple days later, the senior announced his latest decision to flip to Cincinnati.

Simms originally committed to Boston College in late March over Ole Miss, Penn State and others before picking up an offer from the Bearcats in September. According to 247 Sports, Cincinnati holds the 23rd highest rated recruiting class with 22 commits.

Although it wasn’t exactly a dominant performance against South Florida, the official visit was enough to convince Simms to spurn Boston College. Following the recent visit, Simms discussed his thoughts on the coaching staff and program via Bearcat Journal.

"“It had everything for me with the culture and the environment. I could see myself there for four years. I watched the game and got to see what they do in the games and loved it. I got to sit with the fans and supporters and talk to them about why they loved Cincinnati. I met the coaches and liked everything. They remind me of St. Frances and everything they do. The defensive line coach actually reminds me of my defensive line coach here. It’s somewhere that I can showcase my ability and show what I can do against the best competition and get me ready for the next level hopefully.”"
