Following a win over Navy, Cincinnati will stay home for the first night game at Nippert Stadium in 2022 with East Carolina coming to town. The matchup will kick off Friday at 8:00 PM on ESPN2 and fuboTV.

Luke Fickell’s team hopes to remain in conference championship contention and East Carolina poses a legitimate threat with a balanced and high-powered offense alongside an experienced defensive front led by head coach Mike Houston.

Several players to watch include senior signal caller Holton Ahlers, running back Keaton Mitchell, receiver Isaiah Winstead and safety Julius Wood. Mitchell has a conference-best 863 rushing yards this season.

According to 506 Sports, the ESPN2 broadcast will be called by play-by-play commentator Roy Philpott, former Houston Cougars quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Andre Ware, plus sideliner reporter Paul Carcaterra. It will also be streaming on fuboTV.

Both teams are currently vying for second place in the AAC standings with potential to secure a spot in the championship game. With only three games left, the loser could be eliminated from the 6-team race.

In a weekly press conference, Fickell expounded on the tight conference race via Cincinnati Athletics.

"“It’s what we want our kids to love and you don’t want them to have anxiety over. This is what you prepare for the ability to be in a race. It’s a lot better when it’s a race  and there are a lot of twists and turns. It’s better for everyone. It’s better for college football and the league. More than anything, you see who can handle that down the stretch. Our guys understand and know what’s at stake. I don’t want them to overthink it. That’s not the end all be all. Each day and week, just do the job you need to do and put ourselves in position in November to play for something. So there is a balance there but it’s exciting to know we’re still in the mix.”"
