After coming up short on the first drive, the Bearcats jumped out to a 17-3 lead at halftime over Temple behind a pair of touchdowns and a stout defensive performance. The second half will begin shortly.

Despite failing to score on the opening possession, it quickly became clear that Cincinnati would be able to move the ball against an inexperienced Owls defense and that continued on the following drive.

Ben Bryant hit leading receiver Tyler Scott for a first down before connecting with Tre Tucker one play later for a 42-yard touchdown to give the Bearcats a 7-0 lead with 1:19 remaining in the first quarter.

Just before the first quarter came to a close, Dontay Corleone forced and recovered a fumble to put the Bearcats in position to extend the lead and Ryan Montgomery was able to do so on the next drive.

Montgomery slipped through Temple’s defense for a 14-yard score to take a 14-0 lead on the first play of the second quarter as Cincinnati’s offensive line carved out a wide open path directly up the middle.

Ryan Coe added a field goal to give the Bearcats a 17-0 lead before Temple got on the scoreboard with a field goal as Camden Price’s 43-yarder was good.

Prior to going down with a foot injury, Bryant totaled 130 passing yards and one touchdown. Jacob Dingle picked off EJ Warner for his first career interception before halftime as the Bearcats took a 17-3 lead.
