After head coach Scott Satterfield came to Cincinnati on Monday morning, former Louisville offensive guard Luke Kandra entered the transfer portal and is a target for the Bearcats.
The 6’4 sophomore lineman is a Cincinnati native from Elder High School and is expected to take a visit to his hometown school on Sunday after receiving an offer from the Bearcats this week.
Several others that decommitted from Louisville might be interested in transferring to Cincinnati as well including redshirt freshmen linebacker Benjamin Perry and cornerback Rance Conner.
Cincinnati Football: Bearcats most recent transfer portal rumors, updates
Perry played in three games during his freshman year at Louisville before appearing in every game this season with 42 tackles, three pass deflections and three quarterback hurries in 12 starts.
It’s possible the Bearcats could lose three senior linebackers in Wilson Huber, Ivan Pace Jr and Ty Van Fossen so a potential replacement is much-needed and Perry seems to be a realistic option.
Cincinnati is looking to add defensive back depth after cornerback duo Ja’Quan Sheppard and JQ Hardaway entered the transfer portal and Conner could be a name to watch moving forward.
Conner spent the last two years at Louisville but only played 41 snaps in six games this season. The 5’10 cornerback had a career-high four tackles in the First Responder Bowl loss a year ago.
The Bearcats also recently expressed interest in former Florida International senior wide receiver Tyrese Chambers and Coastal Carolina transfer sophomore edge rusher Josiah Stewart.
Chambers is a potential candidate to replace former Cincinnati wide receivers Nick Mardner and Jadon Thompson, who both announced their decision to enter the transfer portal this week.
