Wes Miller’s coaching staff continued to build on the 2023 recruiting class with the addition of Kilgore College point guard transfer DaVeon Thomas!

Thomas is the 4th ranked junior college prospect in the nation and will have two years of eligibility remaining when he joins Cincinnati next season.

Since the Bearcats will likely lose both senior guards David DeJulius and Mika Adams-Woods, Thomas should have a chance to play immediately.

The South Carolina native chose Cincinnati over scholarship offers from Arizona State, Kansas State, Memphis, West Virginia and Wichita State.

Thomas is the third commit for the upcoming class alongside a pair of top-60 prospects 4-star forward Rayvon Griffith and 4-star guard Jizzle James.

In the midst of his freshman year, Thomas is putting up a team-high 19.6 points and 6.2 rebounds per game on 36.4% shooting from 3-point range.

During an interview with Bearcat Journal, Thomas broke down his decision to transfer to Cincinnati and expectations heading into the Big 12 next year.

"“I picked Cincinnati because of my great relationship with Coach Dollar and Coach Wes. I’m really big on relationships with both the assistant coaches and head coach. They’ve been in contact with me since day one. When I was in Cincinnati on my visit, the players on the team and fans showed me a lot of love and that stood out. Throughout the process, opportunity was the biggest thing they were selling me on. Of course I’ll have to work for it but the opportunity is there. I think I’ll bring leadership to Cincinnati. I’m a very competitive person, like to make plays on the court, and lock up on defense. I’m really big on defense.”"
