In the aftermath of an inexpiable loss at East Carolina on Wednesday night, head coach Wes Miller continues to get mixed reviews from the Bearcats fanbase as the season winds down.

Even though there have been plenty of promising moments since Miller was hired nearly two years ago, the team hasn’t been able to reach expectations and fans are getting frustrated.

It’s understandable to not compete for a conference championship this early in his tenure but even Miller would agree that losses against Northern Kentucky and East Carolina are inexcusable.

Miller has what it takes to turn the program around but the fanbase must remain patient because it’s certainly not going to get any easier against Big 12 competition next season and beyond.

After leading for most of the night, the Bearcats went scoreless in the final two minutes and eventually suffered a devastating 75-71 loss at East Carolina earlier this week.

Cincinnati jumped out to a quick start and led by as much as 16 points at multiple times in the second half before allowing the Pirates to go on a 12-0 run and escape with a win.

East Carolina finished the game on a 26-6 run to beat the Bearcats for the first time since 2019. Following the loss, Cincinnati fell to 17-10 overall and 8-6 in conference play.

There’s no way to sugarcoat such a disappointing loss as Cincinnati was in position to move into fourth place in the conference standings before collapsing late in the second half.
