Cincinnati graduate right handed pitcher Dylan Brosky started on the mound and recorded one strikeout in the first inning. Brosky entered the matchup with six strikeouts this season.

Left fielder Kerrington Cross started the bottom of the first inning with a walk and eventually came around to score as designated hitter JP Sponseller connected on an RBI double.

The Bearcats were able to keep the momentum going in the second inning as Lauden Brooks scored on a throwing error, followed by a RBI double from Cross to take a 3-0 lead.

Scott Googins’ team continued to find success in the top of the third inning as Brosky struck out the lead off batter before forcing a pair of fly outs to right field to keep the shutout intact.

During the bottom of the fourth inning, freshman right fielder CJ Dean recorded his first career home run to take an 8-0 lead as Cross was brought into score for the second time today.
