With a chance to move onto the conference championship game, the Bearcats take on top ranked Houston in the AAC Tournament semifinals today at 3:00 PM on ESPN2 and fuboTV.

Despite coming up short in a pair of regular season games against the Cougars, Cincinnati should have confidence after nearly pulling off an upset in a 75-69 loss at Houston in late January.

Landers Nolley II scored 24 points on 6/10 shooting from 3-point range but the Bearcats couldn’t hold onto a 43-36 lead at halftime as Jarace Walker led Houston with a game-high 25 points.

Houston advanced to the semifinals following a 60-46 win over East Carolina yesterday as AAC Player of the Year Marcus Sasser totaled a game-high 30 points, two assists and two steals.

After trailing by double digits in the opening minutes, Cincinnati stormed back and eventually secured an 84-54 win over Temple in the AAC Tournament quarterfinals on Friday afternoon.

Wes Miller’s team is hoping to pull off an upset over Houston and advance to the AAC Tournament championship game. The winner will meet either Memphis or Tulane on Sunday afternoon.

It will be important to limit easy looks against Houston as Viktor Lakhin and Ody Oguama attempt to protect the paint. Lakhin tied an AAC Tournament record with seven blocks yesterday.

Other players to watch in the semifinal matchup include Bearcats senior backcourt duo David DeJulius and Mika Adams-Woods, plus Cougars junior guards Jamal Shead and Tramon Mark.
