Bearcats senior quarterback Emory Jones explained his mindset and looked ahead to next season at Big 12 Media Days last week.

During a recent interview with 247 Sports, Jones said he wants to “show everybody I was ranked as high as I was in high school for a reason.”

Following previous stints at Florida and Arizona State, the Bearcats veteran signal caller is hoping to cap off his six-year career on a high note!

Jones was the 7th highest ranked dual-threat quarterback in the 2018 class per 247 Sports and should be able to find success at Cincinnati.

After four seasons in Gainesville, Jones transferred to Arizona State last year and started seven games before suffering an injury.

Jones compiled 4,620 total yards, 26 passing touchdowns and 10 rushing touchdowns in 37 games at Florida from 2018-2021.

Prior to getting injured in October, Jones racked up 1,533 passing yards and 11 total touchdowns with the Sun Devils last season.

With a revamped coaching staff and roster in place, the Bearcats have potential to make noise in the inaugural campaign in the Big 12.

A pair of former Gators are expected to make a major impact in their first year at Cincinnati after standing out in the annual spring scrimmage.

Both players began their career at Florida before eventually reuniting with the Bearcats, becoming a part of Scott Satterfield’s first class.

Jones looked comfortable operating in the pocket and showed off his dual threat capability with an impressive showing in the spring game.

There are several defensive backs that will compete for playing time and Jordan Young should have a chance start in the regular season opener.
