After leading in the opening minutes, the Cincinnati Bearcats were held scoreless in the second quarter and trail the Iowa State Cyclones 17-7 at halftime.
Cincinnati quarterback Emory Jones found tight end Chamon Metayer for a 20-yard touchdown catch in the first quarter to take a 7-3 lead over the Cyclones.
Despite showing signs of improvement during the opening half, the Bearcats continued to struggle offensively and Iowa State took advantage.
The Cyclones responded with a dominant second quarter that included a pair of touchdown drives to help take a double digit lead into the locker room.

Iowa State took an early 3-0 lead before Cincinnati answered with an impressive 75-yard scoring drive that ended with Metayer finding the end zone.
Scott Satterfield’s team moved the ball throughout the first half but a handful of drives stalled out as the Bearcats went just 1/6 on third down attempts.
There were several notable plays from the first half including Bearcats senior outside linebacker Daniel Grzesiak securing the lone sack to force a punt.
With an opportunity to snap a recent losing streak, Cincinnati was hoping to get back on track but it appears Iowa State will keep that trend going.
