Cincinnati Football: Players of the game from the Bearcats recent loss to Iowa State

Although it was another disappointing performance, the Cincinnati Bearcats had several players make a positive impact against the Iowa State Cyclones.
Bearcats veteran safety Deshawn Pace racked up a game-high 10 tackles, and senior linebacker Daniel Grzesiak totaled seven tackles and two sacks.
Cincinnati senior quarterback Emory Jones found sophomore tight end Chamon Metayer for a 20-yard touchdown to help jump out to an early lead.
Jones finished with 168 total yards, one touchdown and two picks, while Metayer put up a team-best 43 receiving yards and one touchdown in the loss.

After leading in the opening minutes, the Bearcats were held scoreless in the second period and Iowa State was able to take a 17-7 lead into halftime.
Iowa State immediately responded with a dominant second quarter that included two touchdown drives and that momentum carried into the second half.
Scott Satterfield’s team was hoping to get back on track but several missed opportunities and sluggish mistakes allowed Iowa State to eventually pull away.
There were signs of improvement in the opening half but the Bearcats continued to struggle offensively as Iowa State’s defense kept the receivers under wraps.

Following an impressive start to the regular season, the Bearcats are still searching for their first Big 12 win after experiencing a fourth consecutive loss.

Satterfield reacted to the disappointing showing and reflected on the four-game losing streak in a postgame press conference per Cincinnati Athletics.
"“You can’t just show up against the teams we play in the Big 12. It’s not one coach or player, it’s collectively everybody in the building. Our guys could not get open and we struggled to get first downs. We really could not get back in the game but give credit to Iowa State. They’ve gotten a lot better and grown over the season.”"
