Cincinnati Bearcats verbal commit and 2024 4-star quarterback Samaj Jones is set to return to campus for a matchup with the UCF Knights on Saturday!
During an interview with Philadelphia-based writer Joseph Santoliquito, Jones reflected on his decision to verbally commit to the Bearcats in early July.
Jones was the first commitment since the program officially joined the Big 12, committing to Cincinnati over Oklahoma, Penn State and West Virginia.
With his senior campaign at St. Joseph’s Prep School coming to an end, Jones is the 26th highest ranked quarterback in the country according to 247 Sports.

A handful of 2025 recruits earned offers from the Bearcats recently including 4-star defensive back Shamari Earls and 4-star cornerback Tariq Hayer.
Columbus native and 2025 3-star linebacker Denim Cook was among several notable prospects to visit Cincinnati’s game against Iowa State last month.
Hayer is the highest ranked 2025 prospect from Washington DC and being recruited by Maryland, Notre Dame, Penn State, Tennessee and more.

Alcoa native and 2025 4-star tight end Eli Owens recently included the Bearcats among his list of finalists alongside plenty of prominent schools.
Other programs in contention to land Owens along with Cincinnati are Alabama, Michigan, Ohio State, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, Wisconsin and others.
