The Cincinnati Bearcats continue to add to their backcourt with the recent signing of North Dakota State Guard Trevian Carson. Carson was a big part of the Bison's Summit League Championship team, averaging 11.9 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.8 steals per game across 35 games this season. Carson shot an impressive 48% from the field and 37.5% from three-point range. These stats were enough for Carson to be named to the All-Summit League First Team, All-Summit Defensive Team, and All-Summit Newcomer Team.

Carson perfectly exemplifies Jerrod Calhoun's plan to recruit winners. Carson helped bring Bison to the NCAA Tournament this past season with a Summit League Championship win over North Dakota. In North Dakota's lone NCAA Tournament game against Michigan State, Carson scored 11 points, grabbed 7 rebounds, and dished out 6 assists, truly affecting the game in every facet. His best game of the season came on the road against Drake, where the Bison would win 99-94 behind 29 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals from Carson. He would make 11 of 15 shots from the field that night, making 5 of his 7 three-point attempts.

Carson, a junior, has only played one season of Division 1 basketball, playing at Kirkwood Community College for two years before going to North Dakota State, a similar career path to that of former Bearcat guard Day Day Thomas. Carson will likely be a bench piece for the Bearcats next season, with Tylen Riley from Tulsa and Myles Colvin from Wake Forest being the starting guards.
