The Cincinnati Bearcats recently offered a 4-star defensive back out of Blountsville, Florida, Cyion Smith. Smith stands at 6-foot-3, 160 pounds, and is the No. 228 player nationally in the Class of 2028. Smith also comes out as the No. 19 safety and No. 32 player from Florida out of the Class of 2028.
The rising junior has offers from Auburn, Mississippi State, Florida, Miami, UNC, Oregon, South Carolina, West Virginia, South Florida, and Florida State. Smith is an underranked prospect, and several Power 5 programs are interested in him. 247 Sports doesn't have Smith linked with any programs; it would make the most sense for him to end up as a Gator, a Seminole, or a Bull.
Smith originally committed to the Mississippi State Bulldogs back in October, but reopened his recruitment in early May. Rivals has him ranked as high as the No. 12 safety nationally, which accounts for his over-recruitment. Smith recorded 50 tackles, four tackles for a loss, seven interceptions, 10 pass deflections, and one fumble recovery at Blountsville High School during his sophomore season in 2025. Blountsville made a dominant run to the Florida Rural Class State Championship, outscoring opponents 101-35 going into the state championship. They would lose the championship game to Hawthorne 24-8 and would finish the season with a 12-1 record, a No. 2 ranking in Florida Rural according to MaxPreps, and District Champions. Along with Smith, he isn't the only highly recruited player on this team. Jaylen Jones, Curtis Ellis, and Demarkus Roberts are all huge difference makers.
