Cincinnati Bearcats running back Chance Williams announced that he plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal on Wednesday afternoon. Williams, a junior, has one year of eligibility remaining after spending his first two seasons at Grambling State before transferring to Cincinnati and playing there for the last two seasons.

In his final season at Grambling State, Williams rushed for 890 yards on 148 carries. In his two seasons at Cincinnati, Williams never really got a huge opportunity to show off his skill set. He ran the ball 15 times in 2024 and 14 times in 2025, scoring just one touchdown. Entering his final season of eligibility, expect Williams to transfer into a starting role at a lower-level program.

The Bearcats' running back room next season takes a decent hit. On top of Williams transferring, they lose Evan Pryor and Tawee Walker. Manny Covey and Zion Johnson would be the top two guys next year. Covey and Johnson have both shown flashes but have never gotten starter-level snaps in a game. It would be in the Bearcats' best intrest to go get a veteran running out of the Tranfer Portal.
