It was announced late Monday night, the 15th which was first broken by On3 Sports, that quartback Brendan Sorsby and Texas Tech will be mutually parting ways, meaning that Brendan Sorsby will not being college football season afterall.

It's been a week since Sorsby was granted an injunction by a District Court Judge in Lubbock, Texas, effectively giving him eligibility after he was caught betting on Indiana as a player on the team and making dozens of other illegal bets as a player at Indiana and Cincinnati. The Internet's reaction to the Sorsby injunction was an outrage, with people calling it "soft" or "unethical". College football's reaction was even worse. The SEC and Big Ten were threatening not to schedule them in all sports. ,AD's in the Big 12 were just as angry, and Brent Yormack, the commissioner, was planning to punish Texas Tech/Sorsby from a conference standpoint.

Amid the outrage from the sport, the media, and the fans, Texas Tech felt they had no choice and decided to let Sorsby go. It is unknown whether Texas Tech or Cincinnati will face any NCAA scrutiny for having Sorsby as part of their programs, but college football is in a better spot today than it was a week ago.

Sorsby announced on Monday, after the news broke, that he is planning on going into the NFL Supplemental Draft, which exists for situations just like this. When a college player is denied eligibility after that year's draft but before the start of mandatory minicamp. Some notable players like Terrelle Pryor and Josh Gordon have emerged through the NFL Supplemental draft, but that was all the way back in 2011 and 2012 by the Raiders and Browns.

When Sorsby was first denied eligibility all the way back in early May and the Supplemental Draft seemed like the likely outcome from the get-go, the Cleveland Browns and New York Jets were announced to be the teams interested in the quarterback. With rookie camp and OTA's underway since then, interest may have faded for these teams or even heightened for others. Sorbsby's NFL future is likely, but with whom exactly is very uncertain.
