The Cincinnati Bearcats passed for a total of 69 yards in their 20-17 loss against the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Thursday, August 28th.

Brendan Sorsby completed 13 of his 25 passing attempts, 52% of his passes being caught. The Bearcats' "transfer trio" of wide receivers caught 7 passes for 51 yards, 5 of those receptions and 41 of those yards coming from Cyrus Allen, a transfer from Texas A&M.

The Bearcats' standout tight end, Joe Royer, caught 3 passes for 11 yards, something that definitely needs to be improved upon.

Sorsby seemed to be a little bit too reliant on his legs at times, rushing for 96 yards on 13 carries, finding the end zone twice. Leading the team in carries and yards is good for quarterbacks, but not when they run for 30 more yards than they passed for.

The Bearcats play an in-state rival next weekend, Eddie George and the Bowling Green Falcons. With a home opener at Nippert and a long week to figure out offensive issues, watch out for the Bearcats to put together a pass-heavy scheme going into week 2.

The Bearcats are likely to get Caleb Goodie (transfer from Colorado State) and Jeff Caldwell (transfer from Lindenwood) more involved over two games. These two transfer receivers were some of the more high-profile additions to the Bearcats' roster this offseason and are off to a disappointing start so far.

If the Bearcats can become a more well-rounded, offense watch out for them when the Big 12 schedule starts.
