The Cincinnati Bearcats and Dayton Flyers have announced a date for their non-conference game this season. The Game will take place this season on November 14th at UD Arena, after last season it was played at Fifth Third Arena, and the two years before as part of the Hoops Classic at Heritage Bank Arena. This is the first time since 2004 that the Bearcats will be playing at UD Arena, when they won the game 65-55 in front of a sellout crowd of 13,409 fans. UD Arena is regarded as one of the best atmospheres in all of college basketball, despite the Flyers not being one of the top national brands.
Last season at Fifth Third Arena, the Bearcats beat the Flyers 74-62, led by 20 points and 4 assists from Day Day Thomas and 16 points from Shon Abaev. In 2024-25, the Bearcats were ranked No.19 and Dayton No. 22. The Bearcats would get the ranked win 66-59. In 2023-24, the rivalry was renewed for the first time since 2010, and the Flyers would get their revenge, winning 82-68 behind 28 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 blocks from eventual first-round pick Daron Holmes II and 27 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists from junior guard Kobe Elvis.
The rivalry that has been renewed between Cincinnati and Dayton has quickly become one of the most anticipated games on both teams' schedules. Both fanbases are huge, and both cities are within the top market for college and professional basketball, bringing a passionate energy to their arena whenever they play.
