The Cincinnati Bearcats announced their four captains ahead of the 2025 college season. Dontay Corleone has been named a captain for the third straight season, along with Gavin Gerhardt. Brendan Sorsby and Logan Wilson join as first-time captains.

Dontay Corleone had a down year last season by his standards. He dealt with blood clots all offseason, which caused him to start the season on a snap restriction. Corleone would have been an NFL Draft pick if he had declared, but he decided to return to Cincinnati for his fifth and final season with his hometown Bearcats.

Gavin Gerhardt is the clear-cut leader of the Bearcats' offensive line, with Luke Kandra and John Williams now in the NFL. Gerhardt is playing center this year, whereas last year he primarily got snaps at left guard. A relationship between a quarterback and center is extremely important and great to see.

Logan Wilson transferred into Cincinnati last offseason after two years at North Texas. Last season for the Bearcats, Wilson totaled 20 tackles, 4 pass deflections, and 1 interception. Wilson is the leader of the secondary this season and has taken the role with open arms. If the Bearcats want to take a step up defensively, it starts with Wilson and the secondary.

Brendan Sorsby blossomed into a leader this offseason, buying in fully to Scott Satterfield's program. Sorsby surprised a lot of fans this past season with his offensive ability, passing, and running the ball. With a revamped offensive line, a replacement at running back, and a brand new wide receiver room, this is a great year to see Sorsby bring all the new faces on offense together.
