Cincinnati Bearcats freshman Shon Abaev is already off to a hot start in Cincinnati, drawing comparisons to one of the best to ever put on a Bearcats jersey, Sean Kilpatrick.
In Monday's opening night win, Abaev went for 18 points, the most by a freshman in their debut game since Kilpatrick in 2010 against Mount Saint Mary's, when he scored 21 points.
Along with his scoring success, Abaev also finished the game with 2 rebounds and 1 assist in 25 minutes. He shot 7/12 from the field and was 2/6 from three-point range, showing off his shot making abilities.
The Bearcats' 31-point win is an impressive start to the season. They will look to improve to 2-0 when they take on the Georgia State Panthers on Friday, Nov. 7, at 7:00 p.m. on ESPN+.
It took one game to put Shon Abaev in the same sentence as Sean Kilpatrick.
