Jerrod Calhoun and the Cincinnati Bearcats offered a 4-star guard from the Class of 2027, JLon Lyons. Lyons attends Clinton Grace Christian School in Clinton, Virginia. He broke out this year, averaging 19.8 points, 6.1 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 2.3 steals. He shot 51% from the field, 38% from three-point range, and 81% from the free-throw line. This breakout year has earned Lyons offers from 25 schools, including Indiana, Florida State, VCU, Boston College, Seton Hall, Providence, Oklahoma State, Mississippi State, Missouri, Maryland, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Tennessee, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Villanova, George Mason, George Washington, UTSA, Texas A&M, Morehead State, Georgetown, and Cincinnati.

247 Sports has Lyons ranked as the No. 53 player in the Class of 2027, the No. 2 player in the state of Virginia, and the No. 14 point guard in his class. Calhoun has made point guard a position of emphasis, signing players like Tylen Riley, Trevian Carson, and Elijah Perryman out of the portal to play this season. Last year, Utah State was led by point guard Mason Falslev, who ended up winning Mountain West Player of the Year. Calhoun knows the importance of the position over others, especially in the Big 12, when every defense you're facing seems to be ranked towards the top in the conference. With the point guard position being under a larger emphasis, the offense production should explode for the Cincinnati Bearcats in the Calhoun era, something that was always lackluster while Wes Miller had the job. Cincinnati's identity shouldn't flip a ton, but the offense should be heavily improved.
