Current Chicago Bears safety and former Cincinnati Bearcat Coby Bryant to miss 8-10 weeks with hyperextended knee

Former Cincinnati Bearcats defensive back and current Chicago Bears safety Coby Bryant is expected to be sidelined for 8-10 weeks due to a hyperextended knee, a bone bruise, and a small fracture that he suffered during Monday's training camp.

After winning the Super Bowl with the Seattle Seahawks this past season, totaling 4 tackles in the championship game. This offseason, as a free agent, Bryant signed with the Bears on a 3-year $40 million deal, making him the 13th-highest-paid safety in the NFL.

While Bryant was at Cincinnati, he had one of the best defensive seasons as a Bearcat in 2021. He had 44 tackles, 3 interceptions, and 11 pass breakups, leading Cincinnati to a 13-0 regular season, an AAC championship, and a College Football Playoff appearance. Bryant was a consensus First Team All-American and First Team All-AAC; he was the AAC Defensive Player of the Year and won the Jim Thorpe Award, which goes to the best defensive back in all of football. Bryant did all of this while sharing the secondary with current NFL players Sauce Gardner and Bryan Cook. Bryant was drafted by Seattle at No. 109 overall in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, where he spent the first four seasons of his NFL career.

As far as Bryant's injury is concerned, he won't need surgery for the hyperextension, bone bruise, or small fracture. Bryant is expected to be ready to play by Weeks 4-6 of the NFL season, depending on how well his rehab goes.
