Former Cincinnati Bearcats Simas Lukosius, who spent his last season playing overseas for Rytas Vilnius. Lukosius participated in three championship-level tournaments this season, winning the FIBA Basketball Champions League, erasing a 20-point deficit while scoring 23 points and hitting seven three-pointers, five of them coming in the fourth quarter. Rytas beat AEK Athens 92-86 in overtime to claim their first FIBA title. Rytas and Lukosius lost in the quarterfinals of the Lithuanian Basketball League after finishing second in the standings after the regular season. Ryktas was also the runner-up of the Lithuanian Cup, losing to Zalgiris in the championship game.

In the Lithuanian Basketball League, across 32 games, Lukosius averaged 6.6 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists while shooting 33% from the three-point range. In the FIBA Basketball Champions League, he averaged 8.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1 assist in 16 games. Lukosius didn't start to blossom into a pivotal player until the FIBA Basketball Champions tournament, where he would win the Champions League Final MVP behind his crazy performance erasing a 20-point AEK Athens lead.

Because of his recent success, Lukosius was promoted to play for the German national team alongside his Ryktas teammate Kay Bruhnke. Lukosius was known from his time at Cincinnati to be from Kaunas, Lithuania, but also spent time in Germany as a teenager, making his promotion make a lot more sense.

It was speculated earlier this month that Lukosius signed a deal with the Dubai Basketball Club, as part of the Euroleague. It is thought that the deal will not be in effect until after the 2026-27 season, as Lukosius is still "on loan" at Rytas.
