Former Cincinnati Bearcats guard Sencire Harris announced his commitment to the Eastern Michigan Eagles, his fourth team in four years. The 6-foot-4, 190-pound guard from Caton, Ohio, was a former 4-star athlete and was committed to play for Brad Underwood and Illinois. He spent one season in Urbana-Champaign before going to West Virginia, playing under Darian DeVries, who left after one season to take the job at Illinois. He then transferred to Cincinnati to play for Wes Miller, who, funny enough, lost to Eastern Michigan this past season, the Eagles' first win over a Power 4 opponent since December of 2014.
Harris will be a projected starter in the Mid-American Conference and can likely rebuild a reputation if he is granted a fifth year with the 5-in-5 ongoing hiatus. This past season at Cincinnati, Harris averaged 5.7 points, 1.5 assists, and 2.7 rebounds, shooting 38.6% from the field and 18.2% from three-point-range.
Last season, the Eagles finished with a 10-21 record, going 4-14 in the MAC and finishing 11th in the conference. Eastern Michigan fired their Head Coach and hired Billy Dolon who was last an assistant for Clemson Basketball, who played Cincinnati last season. In that game, Harris scored 10 points, and grabbed 4 rebounds and had 1 assist, shooting 44.4% from the field.
Eastern Michigan is bringing in a plethora of new players: 2 from high school and 7 through the transfer portal. Harris is the most notable addition, but Mehki Ellison from Stetson and Mohammad Habhab from Central Michigan are worth mentioning.
