At the start of the 2025-26 college football season, Scott Satterfield was already on the hot seat and even more so after an opening game loss to the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Fast forward five games and the Bearcats are 5-1, ranked in the top 25, and tied for first in the Big 12. Does Satterfield still have a hot seat?

The seat is still warm; if you can remember, the Cincinnati Bearcats started last season 5-2, after beating the eventual Big 12 Champion Arizona State Sun Devils. They would go on to lose their final five games, an awful downward spiral to end the year.

The Bearcats travel to Stillwater, Oklahoma to take on the Cowboys next week in a game where they are a heavy road favorite. The Oklahoma State Cowboys are currently 1-5, 0-3, with their only win coming over UT Martin. If the Bearcats win comfortably and become bowl eligible, then Satterfield's seat cools off a bit.

The Bearcats end the season with a tough five-game stretch where they host Baylor, Arizona, and BYU and travel to Utah and TCU.
