After a 6-3 start with losses to Louisville, Eastern Michigan, and Xavier, Wes Miller is in the hottest seat he has had in his 5-year tenure as the Cincinnati Bearcats head basketball coach. When Miller took the job in 2021, the program was in a sorry state following the John Brannen era.
The Cincinnati Bearcats head coach from 1989 to 2005 was Bob Huggins. They made the NCAA Tournament from 1996 to 2005, 10 straight before Huggins left for K-State in 2006. Following Huggins, the Cincinnati Bearcats entered the Mick Cronin era, which would last from 2006 to 2019. Cronin would lead the Bearcats to 3 tournament appearances and plenty of 25+ win seasons in his tenure before leaving for UCLA.
Wes Miller has consistently brought in strong talent but underperformed. The Cincinnati Bearcats were ranked as high as No. 16 last season, starting the season 10-1 with wins over Xavier, No. 22 Dayton in non-conference play. The Bearcats would go 7-13 in conference play and miss the tournament.
Combined with this seasons awful start, if the Bearcats put together another horrendous conference regular season, then it is safe to say Wes Miller will most likely be out.
Wes Miller is in year 5 as the head coach of Cincinnati and he has lost to 3 different Xavier head coaches.

That’s all that needs to be said. pic.twitter.com/gaYpBdTqKC
Wes Miller didn’t wait to shake a single X player’s hand and walked by himself to the locker room while leaving the rest of his coaching staff and players behind. Great leadership! Mick Cronin would be proud!! #AngryElf https://t.co/DftywMv5ij
