Chicago native and former Northern Illinois edge rusher George Gumbs revealed he is planning to transfer to the Cincinnati Bearcats next year!

During a breakout campaign this past season, Gumbs compiled 34 tackles, 3.5 sacks and two forced fumbles in 12 games with the Huskies.

Gumbs is an intriguing addition for the Bearcats after he was moved from wide receiver to edge rusher at Northern Illinois less than a year ago.

The Simeon High School product was a 3-star prospect according to 247 Sports, and chose Northern Illinois over multiple MAC schools.

As the initial transfer portal window continues this month, the Bearcats added several notable players including a trio of standout defenders.

Florida Atlantic wide receiver Tony Johnson and Idaho defensive back Ormanie Arnold also said they will transfer to the Bearcats in recent days.

Johnson became a key part of Florida Atlantic's offense in the last two years, posting 669 yards and seven receiving touchdowns on 60 catches.

Cincinnati Football: Ohio State transfer safety Kye Stokes commits

After entering the portal this month, former Ohio State safety Kye Stokes announced his decision to transfer to the Bearcats on Saturday evening!

During the past two seasons with the Buckeyes, Stokes racked up 12 total tackles, one forced fumble and one tackle for loss in 11 outings.

Stokes appeared in eight games with Ohio State as a freshman in 2022 but proceeded to play in limited action throughout the recent season.

The Florida product was a 3-star prospect during high school and chose Ohio State over Alabama, Georgia, Miami, Notre Dame, LSU and others.
