Cincinnati Football: Worst head coaching hires in Bearcats program history

A handful of former Cincinnati Bearcats head coaches are considered by most to be among the worst coaching hires in program history.

Check out a list of the Bearcats worst coaching hires headlined by former head coaches George Babcock, Tommy Tuberville and several others.

Babcock was hired as the Bearcats head coach and athletic director in 1927 but struggled with just a 12–21–3 record throughout four years.

Tuberville started 18-8 in his first two seasons at Cincinnati before going 11-14 during his last two years and later resigning soon after in 2016.

David Currey also spent multiple seasons as the athletic director and head coach in 1984 but had just a 19-36 record in five years at Cincinnati.

George McLaren was an All-American fullback with Pittsburgh before posting a 16–26–3 clip as the Bearcats head coach from 1922-1926.
