After a 37-20 regular season and finishing sixth in the Big 12, the Cincinnati Bearcats baseball season is still not done after they received an invite to the DI Baseball Championship for the second season in a row, both under Head Coach Jordan Bischel. The Bearcats were invited to Starkville, Mississippi, for the regional round, along with Lipscomb, Louisiana, and Mississippi State, which is hosting the region.

Cincinnati Bearcats Head Coach, Bischel, called Starkville "second to none" when talking about environments in college baseball. Lucky for the Bearcats, they played in the Knoxville regional series last year with Tennessee, Wake Forest, and Miami (OH). If anything was going to ready them for the environment they are about to witness, it was last year's trip to Knoxville. The Big 12 sent six teams to the tournament, including Cincinnati. Kansas and West Virginia, who finished first and second in the Big 12, are both hosting a region, being ranked No. 15 and No. 16. Arizona State and Cincinnati both received "2 seeds" in their region, while UCF and Oklahoma State are both "3 seeds". The Bearcats have an 8-9 record against Big 12 tournament teams this season, going 0-3 against Oklahoma St and 0-1 against Arizona State and having a winning record against the rest. Cincinnati also played Auburn in the regular season. The Bearcats would win 8-0 over the eventual No. 4-ranked team in the sport. Cincinnati would also beat Jacksonville State in a season-opening series. The Gamecocks made the tournament in the Hattiesburg, Mississippi region.

The Bearcats' last game played was in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Tournament, where they lost 10-2 to Arizona State, who finished 3rd in the Big 12. The Bearcats will have 8 days of rest between their loss to the Sun Devils and their upcoming game against Louisiana this Friday at 7:00 p.m.
