After a 12-2 victory over Louisiana to start the NCAA Baseball Tournament, the Cincinnati Bearcats moved on to play the No. 14-ranked Mississippi State Bulldogs. The Bearcats would lose 10-5, sending them to the losers' bracket, awaiting Louisiana once again.
The scoring started with Mississippi State's Ace Reese hitting a home run in the first inning to take an early 1-0 lead. In the second inning, Cincinnati's Christian Mitchelle would go on to hit a double down the left field line, sending Enzo Infelise home to score, tying the game at 1-1.
The third and fourth innings would go scoreless, the next score coming in the bottom of the fifth inning by Bryce Chance, who would hit a single with bases loaded and two outs, sending one Bulldog players to score. Gehrig Frei was up to bat next for Mississippi State. He would hit another single, this time sending two players home to score, extending their lead to 4-1.
The Sixth inning would go similarly to the fifth; Reed Stallman would hit a double in left field for the Bulldogs, scoring another run. Cincinnati's Adam Buczkowski would throw a wild pitch, with Mississippi State's Vytas Valincius stealing home. Kevin Milewski would hit a single to send Stallman home to score.
Stallman would be batting again in the seventh inning, this time hitting a double to right field, sending home two runs, extending the lead to 10-1. In the eighth inning, Jackson Smith would score the second Bearcats run of the night off a single from Ryan Tyranski, Jack Natili would get walked with bases loaded earlier in the inning, sending Charlie Niehaus home to score. Cal Sefcik and Mitchelle would score in the ninth inning to make it a 10-5 loss.
