The Kansas City Chiefs have two new Cincinnati Bearcats pass catchers on their roster this season that aren't named Travis Kelce. The Chiefs drafted Cyrus Allen in the fifth round of the NFL Draft, No. 176th overall, and singed Jeff Caldwell as a undrafted free agent after he blew up in the NFL Combine.
The two receivers have been receiving a lot of praise this offseason on social media, warranting people to think they are going to play a massive role in the Chiefs offense and resurgence back to the top of the AFC West and the NFL Playoffs, after missing the playoffs last season for the first time since 2014, Andy Reid was in his second season as head coach and Alex Smith was the quarterback.
Fans are excited for Allen to hit the field, saying "I don't know how we landed Cyrus Allen, or how he went under the radar so much...". Allen has been on the record saying he dosen't care how he can impact the team. If that means he has longsnap, he said he would longsnap.
Cheifs digest writer Matt Derrick has been at almost every Chiefs practice and camp available to the media and has noted that "He's looked the same in every practice. I have not seen him have a bad practice yet." Derrick also said that he had a few catches from Mahomes in a 7-on-7 period and that he continues to be impressed with him.
There haven't been much camp news surrounding Jeff Caldwell, but his NFL Combine athleticism score of 99 keeps fans excited for what is it come of the 6-foot-5 receiver.
