USA Today released an article on August 11th titled "College football hot seat list: 11 coaches facing heat, with Bill Belichick on fire." The article features 11 college football head coaches who are on the hot seat, with Cincinnati Bearcats head coach Scott Satterfield being named among them.

Along with Satterfield, Bill Belichick, Luke Fickell, Mike Norvell, Dave Aranda, Mike Locksley, Shane Beamer, Lincoln Riley, Jeff Lebby, Bill O'Brien, and Derek Mason were also named among the head coaches to be on the hot seat.

The case they make for Satterfield is fair, saying, "the temperature around Satterfield fluctuates like spring in the Midwest... He entered last season facing heat. Then, the Bearcats started 7-1. Ah, a nice cool breeze... They finished by losing five straight, continuing Satterfield's trend for November swoons."

USA Today writer Blake Toppmeyer calls him "just a .500 coach," saying he can't expect any contract protection even though he is under contract through 2028. His buyout drops to $5.53 million after this season, which is something that likely won't matter if the Bearcats have another down year with Satterfield in the middle of it all.

A lot of the coaches on this list have high expectations and are likely to meet them this season. Shane Beamer has his best roster he has had at South Carolina; USC and Lincoln Riley are gearing up for their best season as a part of the Big Ten. But other coaches like Luke Fickell, Bill Belichick, and Mike Norvell need to have a solid year to be returning as well.
