College Football: Week 1 in the AAC

facebooktwitterreddit

Our Bearcats don’t start the season until week 3 and college football kicks off Thursday. So, let’s use week 1 to see who the other AAC teams are playing. Coach Tuberville and the gang will be able to size up our future opponents because of the early film. Also, if the AAC foes can knock off a few power five boys it will give the AAC some recognition and most importantly it will give our Bearcats recognition when we knock off everybody we play inside the conference. (Hey, got to speak it into existence.) Hopefully my last statement is true. (Puts fist into air and screams goooooooo U C!!)

Let’s check out who our AAC foes play this week:

Thursday 8/28

Tulane @ Tulsa, CBS Sports Network, 8 PM

Temple @ Vanderbilt, SEC Network, 9:15 PM

Friday 8/29

BYU @ Connecticut, ESPN, 7 PM

UTSA @ Houston, ESPN U, 9 PM

Saturday 9/30

Penn State vs UCF, ESPN 2, 8:30 AM

Austin Peay @ Memphis, ESPN 3, 7 PM

Western Carolina @ South Florida, ESPN 3, 7 PM

NC Central @ East Carolina, ESPN News, 8 PM

Sunday 8/31

SMU @ #10 Baylor, Fox Sports 1, 7:30 PM

The games that interest me the most are the SMU/Baylor, BYU/UConn and Temple/Vandy contests. Each team represents a power conference (Big XII and SEC respectively) minus BYU who is an Independent, but we know they have rich history.

I don’t know if #BearcatNation should root for our AAC foes, but a few wins versus power conferences would be a great look for the conference as a whole.
