As we make our way through the seniors who have played their last season as Bearcats, we fall on linebacker Clemente Casseus.

The 6’1″ 227 lbs bruiser came to Cincinnati by way of Miami, FL, a member of one of Butch Jones’ classes that were chock full of Floridians. Casseus was a bit of a late signee in 2011 and an under the radar player from the time he inked his letter of intent with the Bearcats to the time be played his last game against Miami (FL) this past season.
But that’s not to say he didn’t play an integral role in the defense.
While #6 (changed from the #57 he typically wore at UC) never cracked the starting rotation at Cincinnati, he was one of the most consistent special teamers and rotational linebackers on the team. A position that dealt with depth issues during every season he was on the team except for maybe 2013, Casseus was one of the first players called off the bench when guys like Jeff Luc, Nick Temple, or Greg Blair were asking for much needed breathers.
Over the course of his career, Casseus piled up 60 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, and a half-sack. His best season was in 2013, when he played in all 13 games and posted 26 tackles, solid numbers for a backup.
So Casseus leaves Cincinnati somewhat of an unknown player to most fans. He never started and only saw the field on special teams and a handful of reps at linebacker. But I’m sure his coaches and teammates will be missing the impact he made on the Bearcats over the past few years.
