Despite falling short against the Miami Redhawks on Saturday night, the Cincinnati Bearcats had several defensive players make a significant impact!

Following an impressive performance at Pittsburgh, Jack Dingle continued to dominate with a team-high seven tackles in the narrow loss last week.

In the annual Battle for the Victory Bell against Miami, Bryon Threats made plays all over the field with five tackles, one interception and one sack.

Taj Ward compiled four tackles, a forced fumble and pass break up, while Dorian Jones posted six tackles and Jordan Young totaled five tackles in the loss.

Cincinnati must use the setback as an opportunity to address weaknesses before attempting to come back stronger as conference play gets underway.

It will be important for the Bearcats to use the loss as a catalyst to improve because there is still a lot to play for in the inaugural Big 12 campaign.

Scott Satterfield’s team struggled to score in the red zone and the Redhawks took advantage of plenty of costly mistakes throughout the recent game.

The Bearcats will try to put together a solid week of practice and get back on track in the Big 12 debut against the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday night.

Emory Jones wasn’t able to find a rhythm in the red zone but he still finished with 252 passing yards, 86 rushing yards and one touchdown in the loss.

Ryan Montgomery totaled a team-high 101 rushing yards but it wasn’t enough to propel Cincinnati to a 17th consecutive victory over the Redhawks.

Xzavier Henderson posted a season-best 12 catches for 140 receiving yards but he was the only receiver with more than three receptions against Miami.

With Big 12 play around the corner, the Bearcats will have to regroup and try to regain some momentum against the Oklahoma Sooners next weekend.
