Previewing The Cincinnati Bearcats v. The Tulane Green Wave

facebooktwitterreddit

The Cincinnati Bearcats return to the friendly confines of Fifth Third Arena tomorrow to host the Tulane Green Wave, who are 4-7 in the AAC.

KEY NUMBERS

Tulane, like their record suggests, are a middle of the road team. They’re not particularly strong or weak in any single area, except for turnovers which they pile up by the truckload (13.6 per game, 3rd most in AAC). Tulane is the fastest team in the conference, averaging 66.4 possessions per game but boy do they know how to waste them.

More from Cincy on the Prowl

Otherwise, the Green Wave are fine on the boards (35.4 per game, 5th), are decent three point shooters (32.9%, 6th), and are pretty good at creating turnovers themselves (14 per game, 1st). It’s hard to peg the strength of this team but I’d have to lean towards their guards.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Louis Dabney (#0): The prolific guard is the Tulane’s best overall player. Dabney is the Green Wave’s leading scorer, averaging 13.6 points per game, and is their best shooter from beyond the arc, hitting them at a rate of 40%. Tulane’s guards are talented but if there’s anyone who can light up Cincinnati, it’s this guy.

BEST MATCHUP

Gary Clark v. Dylan Osetkowski (#21): Two impressive freshman power forwards will be clashing tomorrow afternoon. Clark is leading all new players in the AAC in rebounds with 6.9 per game and Osetkowski is right behind him at 4.7. They should be clashing more than a few times in the paint and I’d be extremely curious as to who comes out on top.

FINAL THOUGHTS AND PREDICTION

It’s Tulane.
