Cincinnati Bearcats Head Coach Mick Cronin Will Return To Coaching

The Cincinnati Bearcats were pleased to announce that head coach Mick Cronin has been cleared to return to coaching the UC basketball team in a full capacity.

Cronin had been relegated to a supporting role just hours before the Bearcats took on the VCU Rams way back in December. He was diagnosed with an unruptured brain aneurysm, an extremely serious condition that could be life threatening if it were to rupture. However, doctors advised that rest and relaxation would be the best treatment. That was the good news but Cincinnati was to move forward without their intrepid coach for the remainder of the season.

Everything worked out in the end but the question still loomed about whether or not Mick Cronin would be the Bearcats’ head coach in the near and distant future. Now we have confirmation that he’s returning for good.

My only concern now is if this issue will creep up again. I’m no doctor (obviously, have you seen the stuff I’m writing about?) but what are the assurances he’s out of the woods. Cronin’s been cleared for the time being and has been given a clean bill of health but what about 5 or 10 years down the road? He’ll probably be fine but I feel like the danger will always be there, especially when it’s a condition caused by high-blood pressure.

So we’ll see. For now we can rest assured that UC’s head coach will be on the sidelines next season and able to return to the ever-important recruiting trail this Summer.
