2016 Center Nysier Brooks Visiting Cincinnati
By Chris Bains
2016 center Nysier Brooks from Life Center Academy in Burlington, New Jersey and WE R1 AAU team is taking an unofficial visit to Cincinnati, as Alex Kline at The Recruit Scoop has noted.
The Bearcats have been desperate to land a big man late in the 2015 cycle or 2016 class with them losing fives Octavius Ellis and Coreontae DeBerry after the upcoming season. UC missed out on talented Charlotte 49ers transfer Ebuka Izundu, who chose the Miami (FL) Hurricanes over Cincinnati in mid-May. He’d be able to get his feet wet this season and be ready to go from 2016 onward to start for three seasons at Cincinnati.
Mick Cronin was able to bring in NC State power forward Kyle Washington two weeks ago. He, too, would have had to sit out a year but played and potentially started for the Bearcats in 2016. But Washington opted to take a visit to Providence and it’s unclear if Cincinnati’s at the top of his list or not.
So it made sense for Cronin to bring Nysier Brooks in for an unofficial visit this past weekend. A consensus three-star center from most recruit sites, he boasts offers from St. Johns, Seton Hall, and South Carolina in addition to the one from Cincinnati. It’s pretty clear the Bearcats are extremely interested in Brooks’ services and hopefully he reciprocates that with a commitment sometime soon.
