If you didn’t get enough of ESPNews broadcaster Beth Mowins calling dropped passes catches and incessantly pronouncing players’ names wrong during UC’s game with Rutgers yesterday, well good news, friends! Cincinnati’s game next week against the Houston Cougars will also be aired on ESPNews! Huzzah!

The noon kickoff was already announced, much to my chagrin, but my hope was that since Cincinnati and Houston were still very much in the hunt for an AAC title, ESPN would have the inclination to put it on one of their more widely viewed channels like ESPN2. And if the Cougars had beaten Louisville last night, I’m almost 100% positive it would have. Instead, Houston lost and while they’re boasting an impressive 7-3 season to accompany Cincinnati’s 8-2 record, there really isn’t much on the line except for bowl positioning in this game. This is especially so with UCF squeaking out yet another win yesterday, essentially locking up the conference title for themselves.

So while next Saturday’s Bearcats-Cougars matchup projects to be an intriguing game between two pretty good teams, the fact that an AAC championship aren’t riding on the outcome of the game is probably why it got selected for ESPNews. Oh well, I guess national TV is better than ESPN3. Plus, since this is a matchup of teams who project to be in the AAC for quite some time, we don’t have to worry about Joey Galloway whining about the Bearcats dropping 52 on his precious Big Ten.
