The AP Poll was released a little bit ago much to the satisfaction of UC fans who witnessed their team crack the top-25 for the first time this season. The Bearcats were ranked 19th in said poll. But I was a bit surprised when I found out that Cincinnati is also ranked in the Coaches Poll, 23rd with 87 votes in fact. From a movement standpoint, UC appears to have garnered slightly more love with the coaches than the associated press.

Obviously they are higher in the AP than Coaches but the Bearcats made a larger jump in the latter. You see, last week Cincinnati was shockingly ranked 33rd in the Coaches Poll. This made absolutely no sense considering the season UC was having and the huge win over then 18th ranked Memphis the Saturday prior. It seemed like the coaches (or unpaid interns who vote for the coaches, rather) phoned it in that week. Not this time, though, as UC jumped a surprising 10 spots in that poll and making them ranked in both. That’s great news for this program and, like in the AP, hopefully Cincinnati sticks around in the top-25 of the Coaches Poll a little longer than they did last season.
