Cincinnati Bearcats defensive coordinator Robert Prunty was named AAC Recruiter of the Year by Scout.com. It is the second straight year he has earned that award on top of two straight Big-12 Recruiter of the Year awards he received during his time at Texas Tech.
To say Prunty played an integral part in compiling Cincinnati’s most recent recruiting class would be an understatement. UC’s defensive coordinator recruited 13 of the Bearcats’ 24 signed players in this cycle. That’s simply remarkable. Considering Prunty is just one coach among nearly a dozen. Yet he accounted for over half of the signees in UC’s 2014 class. That just proves how valuable he is to this program and why he won such a prestigious award.
Prunty obviously put in the extra effort to snag those 13 players but you’ll get a sense of just how hard he worked when you look at the states in which they call home. 3 of Prunty’s recruits hail from across Ohio, 2 more are from California, 2 are from Georgia, 2 are from Virginia, and there are 1 each from Texas, Virginia, Mississippi, and Florida. Wow. I can’t even begin to fathom how many free trips to Europe he earned after all that travel.
Here are the list of recruits who Prunty had a hand in bringing to Cincinnati:
