#9: MIKE TYSON’S TOUCHDOWN NON-TOUCHDOWN

Safety Mike Tyson is a talented young player and he illustrated it on a single play during the beat down of UConn last season. If only that play resulted in the ball ultimately scoring points for Cincinnati or at least giving the ball back to UC’s offense.

On the Cincinnati 25 yard line and down over three touchdowns, UConn was desperate to get back in the game. Quarterback Tim Boyle heaved a pass to his left into double coverage. The ball was picked off by Mike Tyson at the Bearcats’ five yard line. He immediately sprinted upfield with the football in hand. After some nifty moves and several key blocks from his teammates, Tyson looked to be headed to the endzone. But he didn’t account for the speed of UConn receiver Deshon Foxx, who caught up to the UC defensive back at the 7 yard line and popped the ball out. It tumbled end over end through the back of the endzone resulting in a touchback. The ball was given back to UConn at their own 20 yard line. That’s right, 95 yards after the interception and possession was given right back to the Huskies. It was perhaps the most memorable moment of the 2013 football season but because of the derp at the end couldn’t be placed higher. Crazy play though!
