The Los Angeles Clippers trade for Lance Stephenson

So Bearcat Fans one of our own was traded from the Charlotte Hornets to the Los Angeles Clippers. Lance Stephenson fresh off of a three year $27 million deal with the Hornets only lasted one year in his new home in Charlotte. Last year Stephenson was known more for his blowing in LeBron’s ear meme than his game play. To be honest he didn’t mesh well with the Charlotte core and before the season I thought he had a chance to put them in to the next level in the East, but I was wrong.

Trade details:

Los Angeles Clippers get:

G/F Lance Stephenson

Charlotte Hornets get:

F Matt Barnes

F/C Spencer Hawes

Lance had a career year with the Pacers in 2013-14 (13.9 points, 7.2 rebounds and 4.6 assist per game) and is only 24 years of age so if Doc Rivers can get him to play at that level or better the Clippers will have a steal. Lance can guard multiple positions and run the show on offense which will be key when giving Chris Paul some rest or if they want Paul to rest off the ball. If Lance doesn’t get his act together the Clippers can get out of the deal after this season as they have a team option for the 2016-17. It would be wise for Lance to play up to the best of his ability because if the Clippers opt out another team will not offer him close to the $9 million he was to receive in 2016-17.

Good luck in LA hopefully Born Ready will be Born Again in the 2015-16 season, #BearcatNation is rooting for you.
