After making noise during his sophomore season at Red Bank High School in Chattanooga, Kobe Smith picked up multiple scholarship offers and an invite to the Cincinnati Bearcats elite camps in June. Smith is a 2024 defensive end and tight end prospect that has received interest from the Bearcats coaching staff.

Kobe Smith hopes to showcase skills at Bearcats camp

“I plan on showcasing my skills and getting my name out there at camps that I’m going to this summer,” Smith told me last month. “Cincinnati is a great place and I could see myself attending school there. It has great education and they have a good sports community. I don’t know much about the program but it seems very well put together.”

Smith received an invitation to the Bearcats camp that begins on June 5 and continues on various days throughout the month. Cincinnati will have elite, position and specialist camps concluding on June 22. A week before that, the position camps will take place including quarterback, big man and skills workouts.

“I plan to go to several camps this summer and I also plan to refine my game and expose myself to several colleges,” Smith later explained. “I would love to start visiting college campuses but I think I’ll have to wait until next year. I haven’t had any schools that have just stuck out to me just yet.”

The 6’3 sophomore received an offer from Chattanooga on January 27 and Eastern Kentucky on May 3. After helping the Lions football team win the district title, Smith took home the wrestling sectional championship and placed third at the state tournament in late February. Red Bank won seven straight games before the season-ending loss.

“I think wrestling has helped me with my work ethic. It has also helped with keeping me conditioned throughout the offseason. I love football and I’m not sure if I’m going to continue my wrestling career in college,” Smith told me about his strengths on the field. “Defensively, it is my motor. I am constantly flying around the ball with no regard.”
