Even though the Bearcats were blown out against Memphis in the final home game of the regular season, there were a few positive performances as Dondrae Bremner and Wyatt Stapp impressed at the plate. Jackson Murphy was the only pitcher to have success after Tristan Weaver was replaced in the third inning. Here are a few player grades from the Senior Day loss.

Wyatt Stapp Player Grade: B+

2 hits, 1 strikeout in 3 plate appearances

Stapp had a team-high two hits including a pair of singles in the 13-1 loss on Senior Day. Following a base hit to center field in his first plate appearance, Stapp picked up another single to load the bases in the sixth inning. The senior second baseman was one of the few bright spots for the Bearcats as he looked comfortable behind the dish.

Jackson Murphy Player Grade: B

2 strikeouts, 1 earned run in 2.0 innings pitched

The right handed relief pitcher came into the game when Memphis led 9-1 in the fifth inning. Despite only pitching 2.0 innings, Murphy was aggressive and precise out of the bullpen. While facing eight batters, he allowed only one run and two hits on 29 pitches, finishing with zero walks and two strikeouts against the Tigers.

Dondrae Bremner Player Grade: B-

1 hit, 1 strikeout in 3 plate appearances

Memphis quickly took a 1-0 lead but it could have been much worse if Bremner didn’t make a spectacular diving play to end the second inning. The senior third baseman later singled through the right side of the infield in the third and eventually came around to score the only run of the day as Griffin Merritt was walked with bases loaded.

Bremner also struck out with the bases loaded in the sixth inning.

Tristan Weaver Player Grade: D

4 hits allowed, 3 earned runs in 2.1 innings pitched

Weaver simply didn’t have it today. The graduate starting pitcher walked three batters in the opening frame and gave up four hits and three earned runs in just 2.1 innings pitched. Before getting replaced by sophomore pitcher Zach Segal early in the third inning, Weaver was clearly struggling with accuracy and consistency as the regular season comes to a close.
