2023 wide receiver prospect Galen Combs got a chance to compete in the Bearcats summer camp in early June and showed off impressive speed and route running skills. Heading into his senior season at Withrow University High School, Combs is hoping to continue improving and potentially earn an offer from the Bearcats.

“Playing at home at Nippert Stadium in front of my friends, family and loved ones would be an amazing experience. My experience at the camp was phenomenal and the coaches made me feel at home,” Combs told Cincy on the Prowl. “The Bearcats program is very special, I know their history from the highs to the lows.”

Combs discussed his thoughts on the Cincinnati coaching staff: “I am familiar with the coaching staff, especially coach Fickell and Coombs. I love their intensity and the environment they promote. I also appreciate their hospitality, how welcoming they are and how they love their players beyond the game.”

The Cincinnati native has an ability to play multiple positions but is expected to be a wide receiver at the next level. He lined up at cornerback, safety and receiver last season. Prior to working out with the Bearcats, Combs also participated in recent camps at Alabama, Auburn, Jackson State and South Alabama.

“A few things I learned from other camps are small things like adjusting my stance on the field, finishing my reps and making each count,” Combs explained to me in an interview. “Even being the best representation of myself because I’m always being evaluated and that my first impression is my last impression.”

Despite being slightly undersized, the 6’0 wide receiver should remain on Bearcats radar for the 2023 recruiting class. In addition to being a standout receiver, the senior plays several positions on the baseball team. Combs went 4-0 with a 0.58 ERA on the mound, while racking up the third most RBI in the conference last season.
