Despite missing out on a couple of recent targets, the Bearcats are a finalist to land 2023 3-star point guard Brooklyn Hicks. The Washington native narrowed his list to seven schools on Wednesday night including Cincinnati, Nevada, Oregon State, Rice, Saint Mary’s, UNLV and Washington State.

Wes Miller and the Bearcats coaching staff originally extended an offer to Hicks on July 17 and should be able to make a push for the 6’4, 180-pound point guard. Hicks is the 44th ranked player in the 2023 class and the 3rd highest rated prospect from Washington per 247 Sports.

Given his elite positional size, intriguing length and unique ball handling ability, Hicks has a chance to develop into an impactful player at the next level. He can play both backcourt positions, which has to be a factor for the Bearcats as 4-star combo guard Rayvon Griffith is expected to take over a large role next year.

Cincinnati continues to look for a second commitment for the 2023 class after 5-star forward Xavier Booker and 4-star guard Trey Green recently announced their destinations. Booker committed to Michigan State in late July before Green revealed his decision to join crosstown rival Xavier.

With that said, the Bearcats biggest target remaining has to be 5-star combo guard Isaiah Collier. The Georgia product is a potential game changer for the program as it prepares to join the Big 12. According to On3 Recruiting, Cincinnati (29.8%) is the favorite to pick up Collier over Alabama, Michigan and UCLA.

A few other seniors to keep an eye on are a pair of 4-stars out of Georgia in London Johnson and Arrinten Page, plus 4-star guard Jizzle James and South Plains College power forward Kalifa Sakho. Cincinnati was also being considered by Parker Friedrichsen before the 4-star guard narrowed his search to five schools this week.
